It will never not make my heart soar to create documentary family photos at home for the families that invite me in. This session with the Neal family in San Jose, California was so bright and cheery in nearly every way possible.

The moment I stepped into the Neal home to begin creating documentary family photos for them, I was struck by all the color everywhere! Lots of art, kids toys, even Fiona’s outfit was colorful and bright. Observing them interact, I quickly noticed that their personalities matched the colors all around.

The way the boys laugh and smile, all teeth and sparkling eyes, was like beams of sunshine. And when the marshmallows came out, oh man! Pure joy! It’s the kind of joy that you can only find in a simple delight.

I could use more of that in my life. Couldn’t you?
