I’m not one for overly posed pictures, but my son is growing so fast, I figured my future self would appreciate having nice looking photos of him at this age. When I started to read Rachel’s website about the family photojournalism approach, I was intrigued. Professional pictures of us just being us? Sounded great. After the initial consultation call with Rachel, we booked a 6 hour day with her. I’m so happy I did.
Rachel is so sweet and easy going, it felt like an old family friend was just hanging out with us for the day. I thought I might feel awkward all day, like paparazzi was following us, but that was not the case at all!!
She captured some joys and some crying and just what it was like to be us at this time in our lives. No picture perfect poses. Just us. It was truly delightful.
I cannot say enough good things about Rachel and I’m so grateful to her that my future self can look back at these pictures some day and truly remember what it was like for us when my son was this age… I’m already looking back at these pictures with such fondness.

Ok, but how does family
photojournalism really work?
After your inquiry hits my inbox and I do a ridiculous happy dance that you should be glad you can’t see, we’ll set up a time to connect on the phone.
We’ll talk about your family and your ordinary life, probably in between sips of coffee (I mean water). Throughout the call, we’ll work out what your custom session might look like, and you’ll hang up feeling like you just were chatting with a friend.
Clear communication for your peace of mind
Throughout the entire process of working together, one of my highest priorities is that you feel completely at ease. By the time my cameras and I show up, you’ll know just what to expect and be able to relax.
Knowing that the best images are formed from your genuine connections, there is no need to perform. You really can (and should!!) just be you.
Your family, your favorites: choose your images & artwork
There’s nothing like the anticipation of seeing the images, which is why I promise a 72 hour turnaround time. Then, you have plenty of time to look through your proofing gallery, “hearting” each one you love, which I genuinely feel will be all of them.
As gorgeous as the images are on a screen, they are SO much more when they are printed. Give even more life to your family’s soul with a custom designed album, matted prints, and wall art options that will become cherished heirlooms of your legacy.

Do you really just follow us around for a day?
Yes! You should change literally nothing about how you live your normal life for any family photojournalism session.
Do you charge sales tax?
Yes. I charge a 7.25% sales tax per North Carolina state and county laws.
How long after the session will we see our pictures?
I deliver your proofing images within 72 hours in a beautiful and easy to navigate online gallery.
Is there a limit to how many people we can include in our session?
No, I love capturing grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins and more! Though I do recommend a longer session in order to adequately photograph everyone and allow the genuine connections to really shine.
We're more private people. Will our images be made public?
During our planning process together, we'll discuss your privacy concerns and preferences to make sure that nothing is shared that would make you uncomfortable.
Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee?
I’m based out of Apex, just outside Raleigh, North Carolina.
I’m happy to say that I include travel to locations within a two hour drive from Apex. Families outside that radius may incur additional travel fees, but I always review those on a case by case basis.
